1922-P Silver Peace Dollar (RAW10719)

Description: After World War 1, the Pittman Act of 1918 authorized the melting of millions of previously minted silver dollars (primarily Morgan Dollars). The act also required silver to be purchased in order to manufacture new silver coins to replace the melted ones. The first Peace Dollars were minted on December 28, 1921 and continued production until 1928 when the Pittman Act requirements were filled. Production resumed in 1934 and 1935 due to further legislation. The new design on the silver dollars during these years was intended to symbolize peace after World War 1. This 1922 Peace Dollar is a beautiful addition to any coin collection. Crafted in Philadelphia with 0.9 fineness silver, this coin has a numismatic value of $1. The obverse side of the coin showcases the iconic Lady Liberty wearing a crown of light rays, while the reverse side displays an eagle holding an olive branch on a mountain top.
