Description: Amazing Morgan Dollar Mint Error! 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar NGC: "Obv and Reverse Struck Thru" (Possibly a "Die Adjustment Strike") NGC Mint Error A two-sided Strike Thru Error is very unusual and makes for a very cool Morgan dollar. There's a chance that something else was going on here. It may actually be a "Die Adjustment Strike," which is even more interesting. Several dealers have given their opinion that this might be a Die Adjustment Strike. Die Adjustment Strike is a fancy way of saying that it was not struck with full pressure. This can happen to a coin struck when the die settings were being adjusted (hence the name), or when a die fails to complete the blow for some other reason, such as mechanical failure of the press. High, sharp rims confirm only light wear, and a rich original pearly grey and gold patina conceals underlying luster, though the piece never had full luster because it never fully met the die face. When the details never existed, NGC will typically not assign a numerical grade. We would estimate this to have XF45 or AU50 wear/luster remaining.
