Description: My grandmother purchased this flute new in 1918 and it's been in my continuous possession since 2005. I had it appraised in 2008 for $6,700. I've never played it, I know nothing about flutes, and I've handled it maybe three times. I've included her obituary to give you an idea of who my grandmother was. She was an amazing woman with an interesting legacy. I possess the original 13-page appraisal, and I'd be happy to share photos with serious buyers. Highlights: Handcrafted silver flute by the William S. Haynes Co. in Boston, MA in 1918 when only 618 were made. This was the golden period for the Haynes company, when they were building their reputation and name. As such, these early models were made by hand vs. later years when they began commercially manufacturing them. This adds considerable value. Manufactured in July 2018, No. 4733. "C" scale, low pitched, "A-435." Solid silver 0.014 wall thickness. It appears to be without any discernable damage or old repair, in excellent condition, and complete and intact. All it needs is a normal maintenance service. The case is in good shape, although I did notice some leather(?) flakes falling off when I handled it for photos. Winning bidder to contact seller about a mutually-satisfactory shipping method PRIOR to payment.
