Description: The original 1864 hand signed “Fifty Dollars” Confederate note was issued from Richmond, Virginia. The note has a center vignette of Jefferson Davis. The note was printed by “Keatings & Ball, Columbia, S.C.” and was hand stamped with the serial number “27487”. There were about 200 different people who signed for each treasury official. For the most part they were women, many the wives or daughters of Confederate soldiers who had been killed in action. The note will be shipped in a protective sleeve with a dated, hand signed Letter of Authenticity with a photograph of the currency above.
