Description: 1854 “California Gold one half” token (not gold - not money) - exonumia. We inherited my father-in-law’s coin collection, and in it was a box of miscellaneous coins and other cool stuff. In that box was this interesting little bit of collectable exonumia - a private issue token purporting to be “California Gold.” I’m pretty sure it is not gold at all, other than a gold-colored plating, which has mostly flaked off of this specimen. And it is probably not from 1854. Furthermore, I don’t think it is a coin, in the sense of being issued by a government. Still, it is an interesting old collectable. It is tiny – about 12 mm in diameter. I don’t know what kind of metal it is made of, but it is not attracted to a magnet. Take a look at the photos – they show the actual token you will receive. I think it is worth about $10 or so, but I will give it to you for just 3.95, and I will pay the postage to send it to you, secured in an eBay standard envelope. Our lot no 421
