Vol 2 has slightly bowed back board. Giovanni Boccaccio's work consists of a frame narrative containing one hundred tales told by a group sheltering in a secluded villa to escape the Black Death. Boccaccio probably conceived of the Decameron after the plague epidemic of 1348, and completed it by 1353. Edited by Edward Dubois, who's edition "seeks to advertise textual improvements to the translation, whilst also aiming to institutionalise Boccaccio's writing within the canons of English literature" (Armstrong).CONDITIONIn half calf signed bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips, and cloth covered boards. A touch of rubbing to joint heads and tails, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned due to paper type, but generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot.Overall Condition: Very Good
